IN-SIG Project Evaluation
The Indiana State Improvement Grant will be evaluated through a multi-tiered process that includes the following components:
- Indiana Department of Education Evaluation Data. Data collected by the Indiana Department of Education via the Indiana Accountability System for Academic Progress and the Division of Exceptional Learners’ Continuous Improvement Monitoring process will be used as benchmarking data over the five year grant cycle. These data include:
- Student performance on the Indiana State Test of Educational Proficiency (ISTEP)
- High School Graduation Rates
- Special Education Placement Patterns in Preschool through High School Programs
- Percentage of the Overall Student Population Placed in Special Education
- Suspension and Expulsion Rates
- Transition from Infant/Toddler Programs to Preschool Special Education Program
- School District Self Assessment Surveys
. An annual school district self assessment will be completed by a statistical sampling of parents, students, teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrators and support staff. Surveys will be designed to be consistent with IN-SIG goals & objectives. Data from these surveys will be used to cross-reference and verify local school district benchmark data and assist in the development of the IN-SIG Action Plans and activities.IN-SIG Needs Assessment Summary Report for 2004-2005 (175KB .doc file)

- Qualitative Analysis & Continuous Feedback
. Information from the other two tiers and from local sources such as Indiana’s PL 221 School Improvement Process will allow local school staff to use a variety of data sources to develop their site-specific improvement activities. These local Action Plans will be aligned with goals and objectives of the IN-SIG. Localized and systematic assessment strategies will allow local leadership teams to measure goal attainment. A case study methodology will be used by the IN-SIG Coordinators to capture and document the process of designing and measuring school improvement.
